Regional variations also affect the average auto mechanic hourly rate in the UK, with mechanics in and around London often charging a higher rate per hour.

Garage mechanic hourly rate

Mobile mechanic hourly rate

As we’ve already mentioned, the average mobile mechanic hourly rate tends to be lower than a garage mechanic hourly rate. This is mainly because they don’t have the overheads of running a garage and can charge less for their work.

The average mobile mechanic hourly rate is around £25 – £60 per hour, depending on the individual mechanic. However, many mobile mechanics may also charge a callout fee of around £45 – £85 in addition to charging an hourly rate for subsequent work. Make sure you confirm the costs upfront before hiring a mobile mechanic to come out.

You may also be charged a higher rate for mobile mechanics to work outside of standard hours, such as evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
